We went out exploring on two boats with our excellent, knowledgeable guides. Howler monkeys were in trees nearby, and we enjoyed seeing glimpses of two tiny babies as they hung out in the treetops. Huge trees are ecosystems, supporting a diversity of life, and with adapted root systems in a very wet spot to grow. Birds and lizards, like the large Iguana or green "Jesus Christ" lizard (nicknamed because it can run across water on its hind feet) were fun to spot, along with an alligator and caiman.
